Ten Mile Ridge

Ten-Mile-Ridge-Group

Ten Mile Ridge, a semi-open jam session group that meets once a week in Idaho’s Treasure Valley, is made up of beginner to professional musicians of various ages and abilities. The group may meet at different locations, but the primary meeting places have been on or near Ten Mile Road. Thus, the “Ten Mile” in Ten Mile Ridge. There is an actual Ten Mile Ridge in Idaho’s Sawtooth Wilderness with a panoramic view of the scenic Sawtooth Mountains.

“Anyone who uses more than two chords is just showing off.” – Woody Guthrie

Several members of the group, individually or with others, have played at events such as festivals, small gatherings, personal get-togethers, and open mics. Some have played professionally in bands, and several have written song lyrics and/or music.

Due to the variety of singers, instruments, music styles, and slower tunes interspersed with lively ones, the songs do not all start sounding the same after a few minutes. In one word, the music could be referred to as Americana, and is an assortment of folk, classic rock, country, blues, and a few other things thrown in.

“They’re wonderful signposts these songs, landmarks and milestones in our lives, people use them.” – Mark Knopfler
